A Victorian bolero jacket with fabulous long sleeves
Short bolero jackets are usually particularly popular over tight corsets or corsages, covering the shoulders and arms of the wearer to protect them from a cool breeze or to conceal a little in one place or another, but at the same time setting off the female waist with a slender waistline. But the Victorian Bolero Madame is much more than that: a real gem in the style of an elegant short jacket full of dark romance. The slightly transparent chiffon-like material on the torso and upper arms has regular decorative seams that give the impression of tone-on-tone pinstripes. In addition, fluffy velvety trims are stitched on in a diamond shape. The puffed sleeves are made with this imaginative material up to just above the elbow. There, a multi-layered ruffle of pleating, lace and tulle creates a fantastically feminine look. A fitted elastic band ensures a perfect fit and hold on the upper arm, allowing the puffed sleeves to be worn in a baggy way. Small satin wing sleeves are also attached to the shoulder. A two-layer look is evoked by the long, swinging funnel sleeves made of shiny satin, which reach far over the back of the wearer's hand. A narrow stand-up collar with lace trim and two silver-coloured fasteners in the shape of a blossom with baroque tendrils skilfully round off the darkly romantic design.
