Photo Shoot Mad Jens or "Stylish in the Mud".

We at Boudoir Noir, with our deep-rooted love of the gothic, are of course enthusiastic about the extraordinary and are already used to quite a few things in this respect. But something like this cool photo shoot, which was à la "stylish in the mud" somewhere between the end of time and steampunk, turned out to be a completely new experience for us as well. Reason enough to tell you a little more in words and pictures about this exciting project, which also featured a fancy Boudoir Noir outfit!

It all started with a huge guy

First, back to the beginning: In September 2020, Jens Eberhard from je-sign Medien contacted us. The successful designer and photographer was looking for an adequate men's outfit for a photo project based on the theme of apocalypse and the end times. The post-apocalyptic clothing was to fit the model, in this case himself, like a glove. Now, the man, who was a successful IFBB amateur bodybuilder in the past, is just under 1.85 metres tall with a correspondingly muscular build. But what can we say, the right garment for "Mad Jens" was of course quickly found in our premises.

Jens was so enthusiastic about the quick composition of a first-class end-time outfit that he promptly invited us to a photo shoot. So we were allowed to visit the production for half a day on your behalf and to be there live during the creation of the unique photos.

An apocalypse is no walk in the park!

In mid-October, the time had come. A quarry in southern Germany served as the photo location. However, this could only be officially used after the end of the shift in the quarry on a Friday afternoon. The outdoor conditions on that day were anything but good with barely 10 degrees and far too much rain. Photographer, model and Boudoir Noir owner Caro had to make their way through mud and puddles to the photo location in continuous rain. But what is there to complain about, the end of the world is no pony farm!

The pitfalls of a somewhat different photo shoot, nonchalantly mastered!

When we arrived at the location, we went straight to setting up the set. The photo professionals had to overcome a few pitfalls at short notice. For example, the flash system had to be equipped with rechargeable batteries, as there was no power supply in the middle of nowhere!

The question of how best to keep a camera dry in adverse weather was solved acrobatically by the experienced photographer Serkan Tuna: Who needs both hands to take pictures, one can also hold up the umbrella!

Model Jens Eberhard also showed himself to be a master of improvisation, dressed up á la doomsday, he quickly improvised a stylish apocalyptic make-up out of mud. But even a tough guy like him, who is not easily knocked out by anything else, starts to shiver at some point in this weather in a cool tank top. The blood vessels that look martial in the photo then disappear quickly, of course - but a real professional knows how to put himself in the limelight even in this situation!

Highlight of the photo production: Fantasy weapon from Skulls N Gears

Man and clothing were of course a (gloomy) eye candy. But a special highlight of the photos and the entire project definitely was the completely weird fantasy weapon from Skulls N Gears. The weapon, reminiscent of a rifle, was created by the renowned artist Alexander Schlesier from a trumpet, an old chandelier, various shower hoses, a tea strainer and much more.

Anyone rubbing their eyes in amazement at how someone could come up with such a crazy idea will be astonished! The Skulls N Gears artist, who is highly esteemed in Gothic, LARP and Steampunk scenes alike, equips video shoots of relevant scene bands, but also commercials of large companies with his unique creations. We can only pay him our deepest respect for his inventiveness!

Nice result from the end-time sludge!

At the end of the cool, damp afternoon, a satisfied look was taken at the resulting pictures in the middle of the quarry, despite the weather. "Mad Jens" between post-apocalypse and steampunk - or, as the working title briefly read with a wink: "stylish in the mud"!

The result is truly impressive, don't you think?
