Strictly cut. Absolutely improper.
The Brocade Uniform Bolero Strictly Proper by Pentagramme wears its name with a knowing wink. While the cut echoes an aristocratic riding jacket, restraint was clearly never part of the plan.
The black brocade fabric features a refined tone-on-tone ornamental pattern that lends the jacket its distinctly Victorian elegance. Standing collar, lapels and cuffs are crafted from deep black velvet, creating a rich contrast in both texture and tone. At the collar, a discreet hidden hook keeps the bolero closed – and that is quite enough discipline for one garment.
The true stars, however, sit on the shoulders: striking epaulettes finished with black fringes that sway subtly with every movement and immediately draw the eye. Ornamental decorative buttons appear on the epaulettes, lapels and cuffs, while opulent trims run along all edges of the bolero. Fully lined and deliberately cropped, the jacket dispenses with pockets altogether – nothing should distract from its sharp, confident silhouette.
A stage for aristocratic audacity
This bolero thrives on dramatic entrances. Worn over a corset top or paired with a sinfully short mini skirt, it creates a look that blends Victorian discipline with a generous measure of dark temptation. Precisely the kind of jacket one wears when one knows that a touch of provocation is sometimes the most elegant form of style.
