High-necked like a proper lady – at least in theory
This shirt features an elegant stand-up collar, long sleeves and beautiful pearl embellishments. It certainly tries very hard to appear refined and respectable. If only it were not for the tiny detail that the entire upper section is made from transparent mesh, concealing skin with roughly the same discretion as a lace negligee during a darkly romantic moonlit stroll.
The elastic mesh fabric clings closely to the body and is covered all over in velvety flocked ornaments that trail across the skin like dark vines. Things become especially interesting around the bust: directly beneath the curved pearl chains, the mesh remains completely transparent. Presumably to ensure nobody misses the elaborate embellishment. Pure courtesy, of course.
The shirt fastens at the neck with decorative buttons, while the lacing at the back ensures everything sits exactly where it is meant to look dramatic.
Pearl chains instead of restraint
The large pearl ornament across the chest looks a little as though Victorian jewellery decided it was no longer content with behaving itself. The cascading pearl chains sway with every movement, making additional jewellery almost entirely unnecessary. Any more would probably qualify as poor judgement rather than accessorising.
The stand-up collar and the transitions into the trumpet sleeves are also adorned with embroidered pearls. Added to this are the double-layered sleeve cuffs made from flowing mesh, dramatically flaring open from the elbow and finished with delicate lace trims. Very elegant. Very dark. And approximately as practical for everyday life as making sensible decisions at three in the morning.
A silhouette worth falling to your knees for – or at least staring at
The shirt fits closely to the waist before the softly flowing peplum transforms the silhouette into a beautifully feminine fit-and-flare line. Shorter at the front and slightly longer at the back, it brings movement into the design while also charmingly concealing elastic waistbands from skirts or leggings. After all, the sophisticated lady of the night reveals skin entirely on purpose – but certainly not a boring elastic band.
This shirt is perfect for dark romantics who adore lace, pearls and feminine silhouettes, yet have absolutely no intention of appearing innocent.
